Chris Hemsworth, the marvel actor, and his brothers Liam and Luke Hemsworth are set to partner with the company Colossal Biosciences to bring back the extinct Tasmanian Tiger to the world.

Chris released a press statement that read, "Our family remains dedicated to supporting conservationist efforts around the world, and protecting Australia's biodiversity is a high priority."

The Thor famed actor and his younger brother Luke Hemsworth connected with the researchers looking to bring back the extinct marsupial in March 2022.

The Hollywood A-listers have backed the ten years project, which does not only want to bring back the Tasmanian Tigers but also the woolly mammoth.

  • The Dallas-based company Colossal Biosciences backed by the Hemsworth Brothers, is looking to bring back not one but two extinct species.
  • Colossal Biosciences will partner with Melbourne University researchers to de-extinct Tasmanian Tigers using gene editing technology.
  • The company has already raised $75 million in total and will see an increase in its resources.
  • Chris Hemsworth has worked with researchers previously to bring back the endangered Tasmanian Devils in Australia.

Chris Hemsworth And Brothers Invest In Colossal Biosciences

The Hemsworth Brothers are working with the Dallas-based company Colossal Biosciences to bring back the long-lost Aussie animal, Tasmanian Tiger.

The lab TIGGR(Thylacine Integrated Genetic Restoration Research) was previously backed with a $ 5 million donation from the Wilson Family Trust in March but now is about to gain a boost in their 10-year project.

This isn't the first time the Hemsworth Brothers have worked for marsupial conservation. Previously in 2020, Chris Hemsworth joined the conservationists in Aussie Ark to reintroduce the Tasmanian Devils.

The Tasmanian Devils were reintroduced to the mainlands of Australia in 2020 after 3000 years.

Chris even posted a YouTube video showing his fans how they set up some traps to catch the Devils and now releasing them back to wildlife.

His wife, Elsa Pataky, joined him to release the highly endangered and unusual mammal that constantly gets compared to the Looney-Tune character Taz.

Ben Lamm, one of the founders of Colossal company, was highly excited about the prospect of Hemsworth Brothers joining the project. The previous works of the brothers will give Ben high hopes that the extinct species will be brought back to Down-Under.

Lamm and the brothers Luke and Chris connected when the Colossal company raised $60 million in March 2022 for their Series A project.

The brothers then decided to invest in the project. As said by Lamm, they were highly passionate about not only bringing the Tasmanian Tigers back but wanted to take in many future projects of Marsupial conservation.

De-extinction Company Colossal Biosciences To Bring Back Tasmanian Tiger

Colossal Biosciences is the genetic engineering start-up company co-founded by Harvard geneticist George Church. The geneticist is ready to de-extinct the Tassie Tigers with gene-editing Technology.

They have teamed up with Melbourne University to provide its resources to bring the Tasmanian Tiger that has gone extinct half a century ago.

The project led by the world-renowned researcher Andrew Pask with his group of 10 scientists is likely to see an increase in the number as 15 more scientists are ready to join the project.

In September 2021, the company spearheaded by Benn Lamm raised $15 million; in March, it oversubscribed its target of $ 60 million.

Hemsworth brothers aren't the only ones who have shown interest in reviving the extinct species. Socialite Paris Hilton has also shown interest in the project.

The iconic wolf-like animals went extinct in 1936 after their constant hunting by humans. Shocking, right? Now with their 10-year project, the scientists are ready to bring it back. And it's not only the Tasmanian Tigers they are working on getting back.

The group of researchers also wants to bring back the woolly mammoth. Yes, the animal that went extinct 10,000 years ago.

It's going to be easier to bring back one of them.

Tasmanian Tiger, like Kangaroo, is born and raised in a pouch. The gestation period for Tasmanian Tiger is 30 days compared to 22 months for the woolly mammoth.

Ben Lamm said that based on numerous high-quality samples preserved and the shorter gestation, Tasmanian Tiger could be the first animal to be back from de-extinction.
